What can I say?

Other than "I need to stop drawing boring straight on head shots and use the same shading tricks over and over again", that is... I was just trying to improve my design of Edward (that really wonky face from last time bothere me to no end) and even though I said I had a father & son piece with Carlisle in mind, I really wanted to draw him in his "snapped" state, just to see what it would look like. So this isn't from a particular moment in either book, just something I wanted to try. After seeing the illustrations from the Japanese books, I was really tempted to change his hair style, but then I realised I'd probably end up drawing something way too similar to Light from Death Note, so I stuck with what I drew last time instead. Oh and where's his shirt? I don't know! If Jacob and the boys can lose their shirts so easily, why not Edward, eh?

I want to try drawing Bella now, which will probably be tricky seeing how I don't draw girls that much at all.

I've decided to read both books again (yes, I *know* I only finished less than a week ago) and this time I'm reading *much* more slowly, and taking notes too :D

Jeez, I'm sorry, I really need to cut down on the description... ^^;

ETA: I know Stephenie Meyer's vampires don't have fangs but I learned that some time after posting this and I'm too lazy to edit the picture...

Maybe you can say this is another straight-on, portrait style drawing, but OTOH look at the intensity of his expression. He looks ready to explode, and just working SO hard to keep things together (just barely so). The feel of this piece, like "Loss" (is that the name of it? the really, superangsty Jyuushiro drawing?) hits hard, and I love it.

Thank you! I hope I get more adventurous soon.

Thank you. So. Much. :glomp:

This is precisely what I was hoping to convey but I wasn't sure if I'd done it. There's this scene in the first book in which he nearly loses control upon meeting the main character, and we're only told why much later. The author rewrote it from his POV and posted it on her site and it's one of the best things I've ever read and that's what made me want to draw this.

(And yes, the super angsty!Jyuu one is called Loss)

This is so cool, HG! ^_^ And I agree with Lotus, you can really feel his intensity in this piece.

I'm very interested in these books now, so I'll have to try and find them at the library. I was even at the bookstore last night, but I'm very scatter-brained, and I didn't remember to look. I haven't read a good vampire story in a few years, well since the last Anne Rice book I read, so I'm definitely due, hehe.

So much welcome!
I can't wait till Bella!
Are you planning on doing Jasper?
Or Alice?

Thank you!!

I really advise *everyone* to read those books, but maybe you ought to try getting them from the library first. Just in case you don't like them, so you don't subsequently hate me for making you waste money *he he* I mean it was quite a gamble for me since a friend got them for me for Christmas after I asked her, but my hunch was thankfully right :D
:iconhiddengems:
I have to think a bit more about Bella, and I really will have to since I intend to do a few Edward/Bella pieces. As for Jasper and Alice, I unfortunately like the Japanese design so much that I'd probably end up copying it completely at the moment. That's why I want to do Carlisle, because they "got him wrong" and I want to try my own version. I don't think I'll ever try Rosalie or Emmet, but I also want to do Jacob :D
:iconhiddengems:
Thank you! I think it was high time I started playing with expressions a bit more.

Now I've *got* to start Sokka again. I won't post or work on anything else until he's done!! *nods nods*
